Why am I studying Japanese?
In New York City there are certain areas with an emphasis of a specific culture, for example, the Chinatown, Little Italy, and of course, the Japanese town. So in Shanghai, where I grew up in, there are also similar cultural assemblies. Interestingly enough, I happened to live around the Japanesetown. Inevitably, I got interested in the culture and wanted to learn more about it. Yet soon I hit a language barrier that often prevent me from understanding certain elements of the culture. And that's why I decided to learn Japanese.

  1. Hi Kang-san!

Thank you for sharing a little about yourself! It's really cool you grew up around Japanesetown and I can see why you became interested in the culture. I can't wait until we pass those language barriers and can truly enjoy those extra elements of the culture.
